Nebraska’s economy revolves around its agriculture industry. In 2007, 93 percent of the state’s land — 45.6 million acres — was farm and ranch land.

Therefore, rural development in Nebraska includes not only support of small towns and businesses, but also the enormous agricultural sector. The University of Nebraska Rural Initiative has been active in fostering the agricultural research and projects listed below.
